"It's just that I heard something about you and the Robinson family." Yvonne winced. "I thought I needed to thank you in person for what you did." After she finished speaking, she sensed that his mood had gone cold.

He leaned back, feeling displeased. "Who told you that?"

"Noah,." Yvonne answered him honestly but didn't plan to explain the details. She wasn't a person without a sense of propriety. If Stephen didn't want to speak about it, she wouldn't either. "I'm not interested in it, and I don't want to pry into your past." She turned to Stephen with sincere eyes. "I was just surprised. Why did you help me despite that?"

Stephen was startled. He stared at Yvonne for a long time, unable to explain his feelings. She seemed to soothe his anger away. He hadn't felt anything like this before. It was an unfamiliar experience for him.

Yvonne felt weird. "Why are you looking at me like that? Are the answers on my face?"

Stephen recovered. "No." He closed his eyes and explained in a dee
