Growing up, Rebecca didn’t have any grandparents or aunts or uncles, but it was okay for her because her mother and her brothers and sister were enough for her as they would play with her, though only until she grew old enough to see through their lies.

For instance, Louis would eat Rebecca’s food and say he didn’t. There was no need to lie. He could have said he ate her food, and she probably wouldn’t have minded that, but because of him lying, she was hurt more.

Another day, she heard Shawn asking Sheron, the old maid, to cook sweets for him. When Sheron said she would also cook for the girls, Rebecca and Veronica, he told the maid there was no need to include them. Whatever his reason might have been, Rebecca cried inside.

Her innocent mind would get hurt because of these heartless acts that would pop up often with every passing month.
