Clara ran her hand over Ethan's sleeping face. He looked tired and still a little pale. She had been able to check and there was no trace of the wound as such, but through the bond and now so close to him she could sense that he was extremely weak. Her fingers brushed over the strong jaw and then moved to his lips which she went over.

She stared at them with her ruby eyes and then leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on them. Beneath her she could feel the wolf react slightly but it didn't wake up. It was a pity. After seeing him defend her like that, not caring if she died trying she was a little softer when it came to him. He was her mate after all even if he had some twisted aspects to his character. Perhaps because he, like his brother, neither of them had received the affection they needed in all their years of life. Maybe she would have to give it to them and teach them to be more affectionate, even if she didn't have much experience either.
