"Tell me something. Do you know how to get home by yourself?" the woman asked.

Danna thought about it for a moment. She didn’t know the city very well, but it wasn’t so big that she would get lost.

"Yes, I suppose I do."

"Then take a long walk. Walk. Breathe. Take a scenic route on your way back, and let’s see if the exhaustion helps you sleep a little," the doctor suggested.

Danna obeyed. By the time she got back home, her hips ached from walking so much, but the fatigue didn’t help her sleep any better. She didn’t want to have nightmares, but closing her eyes meant seeing Emil’s horrible face again or reliving the spasms in her body as she suffocated. Contrary to what one might think, that was one of her better nightmares.

"Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that Emil Landou was actually your father?" the doctor asked almost a week later. "I mean, you didn’t just kill anyone. You killed your father."
