This had to be a joke, a very bad joke played by fate, because the man with Danna was far from ugly. He looked like he stepped straight out of a high-end fashion magazine, the kind with super special models. He was almost albino, with gray eyes, and as buff as the damn cartoon version of Hercules, and Loan hated him in an instant.

Loan watched Danna out of the corner of his eye the whole time her boss was training her. It annoyed him when the man leaned in to talk to her, it bothered him when he held her waist when she lost her balance, and he hated seeing him roll in the snow with her whenever they both fell.

Loan watched how the sunlight lit up Danna, her hair, her smile—he loved hearing her laugh but hated that she was laughing for him. With every passing second, his jealousy and insecurity grew, and that was something he couldn't allow.

In the last few days, he'd feared the inevitable: that Danna might find someone else. Someone
