Felix's first thought was that they had found out that he killed Mason, but he quickly dismissed it.

First, he had been meticulous. Since Mason had come to kill him, he would have surely avoided cameras himself. Secondly, the Jacobs family would learn about his death first. There was no way they would ask the cops for help instead of taking revenge themselves.
