The ship was a considerable distance away—at least fifteen kilometers. Even with Adrian's speed, it would take all his effort to catch up to it. But since he had already glimpsed a chance to escape, he naturally wouldn't let it slip by.

After leaving the plank, Adrian leaped across the water. He occasionally used his energy to skim the surface, causing waves to ripple outward as he made his way toward the ship.
