The number of people supporting Vardala wasn't very large; they were loyal followers of the former chief, and their sole purpose was to protect Vardala. The majority of the tribe wanted to eliminate him and replace him with one of their own.

After the rebellion, the loyalists of the former chief secretly escorted Vardala out of Burning Sky. Fortunately, Vardala's mother was a resident of Summoner City, so they managed to find refuge there.

Summoner City, being a formidable stronghold, was supposed to provide a safe haven for Vardala. It was assumed that Burning Sky wouldn't dare to cause trouble here. But to their surprise, Burning Sky managed to bribe some summoners residing within the city to target Vardala. This in turn was forcing him to leave. Once outside the city, he would become vulnerable to capture.
