Claude was perplexed. "What do you mean?"

"Don't you see?" Leonard rolled his eyes.

"When you barged in here and tried to come after me, you were doing exactly what Mark wanted."

Claude came to a realization. "Are you saying … Mark's real purpose is to see us turn on each other?"

"That's right."

Leonard sighed. "Luckily, you were willing to let me explain. If not, Mark would have gotten what he wanted."

Claude felt guilty. "I was too impulsive. If Mark ever seeks me out again, I'll let you know."

"Hmm."

Leonard got up and headed over to Claude. He said seriously, "You have to trust me. We have been friends for years. I would never harm you."

"I know." Claude looked at Leonard, his eyes filled with trust.

"If you were someone who wanted to harm me, would we have been friends for so long? I was wrong this time. I'll send you a good bottle of wine as an apology."

Leonard chuckled happily. "Sure! I want the oldest bottle in your wine cellar."
