Night came when Kiara least expected it. She had forced down dinner in an uncomfortable silence with the alpha, then she had taken a bath, and then she was here...in her room, looking down at her toes.

She didn’t know when outside got dark, but it was...she could see it through the curtains, could hear the night outside...

The silence that was only disturbed by a couple of things; the wind that whistled against the trees, the crickets that cried like they thought nobody could hear them and the alpha climbing painfully slow up the stairs.

He was probably going to his room, or to the bathroom, but he wasn’t coming to her.

He hadn’t said a thing to her since what conspired between them earlier.

He only said what was necessary when he came to get her.

Kiara had been sitting like a log in her room, nothing to do as usual. Her fingers kept running along the tiles of the floor, drawing something she could only picture in her head.

That’s when he came, his steps so loud as h
