Hansley looked at Darius sincerely. Darius raised an eyebrow. He could feel his life force acting up. It wanted to absorb Hansley's life force. Though Darius had never learned anything about this, he knew what to do to control it.

He also knew his current agitation was a result of absorbing the life force around him. It didn't worry him. Instead, he was more worried about him losing control of his emotions. The black life force easily affected them. Hansley's words didn't help the situation. They only infuriated him more.

Darius worried that he'd lose control and allow the black life force to push him over the edge. Maybe he'd do something terrible, like suck all the life out of Hansley. This thought lodged itself in Darius' mind. He shut his eyes again and exhaled.

To take his mind off that thought, he said, "Tell me how it happened. How did I destroy my father's heart?"

Hansley stammered, "The hospital you destroyed was made out of your father's heart."

This time, Darius was ready.
