Edward's brows furrowed as he watched Darius and Bridget worriedly. He'd sustained such serious injuries despite sitting at the door. He couldn't even imagine what the life force was doing to them.

Bridget didn't know what he was doing because she couldn't see him. All she knew was that some of the life force that had been attacking her had gone elsewhere. She frowned but didn't turn back. Instead, she said grimly, "Have you lost your mind, Edward?"

She didn't expect him to act like this. Her heart twisted painfully. She couldn't bring herself to imagine what Edward was currently experiencing. He could've avoided injury. After all, he'd been outside when Darius had lost control. As long as he hadn't entered the room, the life force wouldn't have attacked him. Still, he hadn't stayed away.

Obviously, he'd only come into the room to attract some of the life force to him. That way, Bridget and Darius would have some room to breathe. It was too high a price to pay, though. Tears trickled
