Part One: Childhood

It was a cold winter morning when there was a knock at the door. Adelaide, a woman over forty, visibly suffered from her weather-worn appearance due to the difficult life she led beside her drug addicted husband and from whom she was constantly beaten, opened the door, finding a small basket and in it a beautiful child wrapped in ragged and dirty sheets. The weeping of that tiny life moved her soul, filling her anguished heart with joy, for it carried within her the desire to be a mother.

Unfortunately, he was never able to achieve it, due to an involuntary abortion suffered after being savagely beaten by his partner. Without really thinking about what decision to make at that moment, he took the child into the house and provided him with a bath, wrapping him in clean sheets to keep him warm.

However, the hunger that tormented the little girl with fair skin and blue eyes made her cry relentlessly, which aroused in euphoric Luís Damasio the anger to silence her at any cost.

The man, possessed by the effects of the drug he consumed daily, became irritated when he realized that there was a child in his house and acted violently with his companion who protected her:

   — What the hell is this hellish crying in this house, where did that child come from, anyway?

   — Calm man, I found this poor child this morning in front of our house and what did you want me to do, to let the poor girl die of hunger and cold outside?

    — I don't care what I might or might not have done, I just know that I don't want her here, find a way to get rid of her!

    — I will not do any of that, the girl is mine now and I will adopt her, she will be the daughter that because of you I could never have!

     — Woman, were you crazy about wanting to confront me, did you forget who you're talking to, bitch?

With great anger he hits her in the face with clenched fists and the woman falls on one of the old furniture in the room, beating her head and bleeding a lot, even so she still takes several kicks and kicks under the violence of the drug addict who seemed to take pleasure in it that did. However, like the other times, after beating her, he locked himself in the room and she would take care of the injuries suffered in the beating given by the aggressor.

He had marks of beatings all over his body, for several years he withstood that situation. She was a woman alone in the world, she was supported by Damasio at a very young age, when she wandered the streets, without direction and surviving as a beggar. She was grateful to him for the roof where he could live and call home, despite the constant violence he suffered.

But now he seemed to have found reasons to react. That child came at the exact moment when he needed to change things. It seemed the right time had come to give his life a new meaning, to try to be happy. While Luís Damasio was sleeping, Adelaide went to the city and bought all the clothes needed for that child's comfort.

The same one who would now be his longed-for daughter. Even though she did not have her blood in her veins, she would receive the same love that she would give to one generated in her womb, dedicate all possible attention to her and strive to grow and become a great woman, which she never managed to be. Even if it meant greater pain and suffering alongside the man she lived with. As the house where he lived was located far from the urban center, he had no neighbors who could witness the aggression suffered by his partner.

He worked as a day laborer in the homes of the richest and with that he was able to maintain his livelihood, since he could expect nothing from his partner, as he lived a large part of his time drunk or drugged. In fact, this was one of the reasons why he wanted to keep her close at all times, so he didn’t need to work and still took the money to keep his addictions from her.

Over the months she took little Walquíria to work and little by little everyone got to know her. Her extreme beauty won over even the most refined who took care to provide the necessary documentation for the child's final adoption, that tiny life that was purposely placed on the door of Adelaide's house. Now at the age of fifteen, his childhood was marked by contemplating countless violence and aggressions against the one who supported him as a daughter.

On the part of the infamous companion who constantly beat her. She grew up, holding in her chest the hurt of having to see and endure such cowardly inertness without being able to do anything to help her. However, as time went by he realized that he had grown up, he was no longer a helpless child and could do something to help his mother, which was a big mistake on his part. One day Damasio decided to beat Adelaide for something trivial, he was totally dominated by drugs and ended up hitting her on the head with a piece of wood, she fell unconscious.

And the girl, overcome with hatred, went after the attacker with a sharp knife that she found in the kitchen, severely wounding him. Seeing him lying on the floor of the dying room and half an enormous amount of blood, she became desperate and ran away. He went aimlessly through the woods that surrounded the old wooden house, passing the stream of crystalline waters where he had bathed several times and washed clothes with his dear mother, who now appeared to be dead.

He was the victim of that monster in which he had stuck a knife with deep hatred, the tragedy experienced by the beautiful teenager with long hair and blue eyes occurred in the spring. When nature smiled and the most beautiful flowers bloomed in the fields. Exhaling their perfumes that were carried by the winds and perceived in the distance, however the fugitive did not even realize what was around.

She was just running scared, trying to hide from possible persecutors who would surely accuse her of the crime committed against her adoptive parents. The thoughts that filled her mind would soon become terrible truths, she would even be accused of murdering them, so she decided to flee before being caught.

He tried to avoid the severe punishment for what he had just done and did not even imagine the hard price he would have to pay in the uncertain future that awaited him, because it doesn't matter who our opponent is or the causes that lead us to take his life.

To spill blood from someone is to rob him of the right to live and this makes us want to be like God, the only one with the right to end his existence human, condemning us to account for this act until we are considered free from such debt, after much pain and suffering.
