Deirdre took a deep breath. "Is it really as dangerous as you describe?"

Amelie smiled slightly. "I may have exaggerated a bit. Even in a chaotic city, law enforcement officers and officials maintain order. I was referring to certain rough neighborhoods. However, if you do plan to go, we can recommend some safer places so that you won't encounter any troublemakers."

Deirdre sighed, uncertain when she would have the opportunity to visit, but she thanked them nonetheless.

"Yes, we'll return there after a while of traveling," Amelie replied. She glanced at Brendan, removed her high heels, and rubbed her silk-stockinged feet agai
