Emily’s goal was not innocent.

She had utilized public opinion to bond him to her first. Then, she suddenly announced that she would treat Deirdre’s eyes. It would be impossible for him not to be on guard.

“If you really want my colleague to treat Miss McKinnon’s eyes, we can do that, of course.”

Emily continued to smile consistently.

Brendan furrowed his eyebrows. In the next moment, Emily said, “You’re going to have to take the trouble to wait a little longer then, Mr. Brighthall.”

“What do you mean?” Brendan exuded coldness from his entire body, and he was one step away from interrogating her. “Didn’t you claim that you would pass me the contact method of the ophthalmologist if I were to agree to your request?”

“Yes.” Emily nodded and appeared slightly vexed. “I can give you his contact method, of course. However, it’s quite unlucky that you want to commission him to treat Miss McKinnon because my colleague has left the research center to visit his mentor.”
