Serenity took Clara to the sink and put the burnt area under cool running water for at least 20 minutes. After that, she turned off the tap and carefully dried Clara's hands. "Do you have any ointments or creams for use on burns? You should put some on the burn. It'll help during the process and ease the pain."

"Yes. I'll do it later," Clara said.

"I'll put it on for you," Serenity insisted. After asking Clara where the first aid kit was, she grabbed the burn cream and put it on Clara. Serenity was less worried after treating Clara's minor burn.

"Hey, I'm fine. It's getting late, and you should go home," Clara urged.

Serenity looked at the clock. It was about time for her to pick up her two kids from school, so she should leave. "Okay. I'd better get going. Remember, keep your hand away from water for two hours."

"Yeah, I know," Clara replied.

When Serenity left, Clara stared at the back of her swollen hand, appearing dazed. Her nose crinkled at the waves of overwhelming emotion
