Queenie watched the scene from afar with hatred. She thought that Clara was lying to her when she denied that Wilson had brought her here. She was like a fool in Clara’s eyes.

Harvey spoke after pondering for a moment, “This friend of yours is not simple. How could a woman who had been in jail hold a place in Wilson’s heart? She must be rather scheming. Still, she can’t marry him even if she’s pregnant with his child."

The words “a woman who had been in jail” made Queenie upset.

It was taboo for her as she had also been in jail before, but Harvey would always tease her about it in front of others.

Sometimes, she couldn’t help but think that Harvey was just fooling around with her. Even if she bore him a son, he would never marry her. She was nothing to him because of her past.

Wilson accompanied Clara and served Mrs. Wells her food.
