He was an imposing man with a stern countenance. Fred found him looking familiar, as if he had seen this man somewhere before.

He was too young to understand that the reason he found the man looking familiar was because the man looked a bit like him.

"You're Frederick and you're five years old. Your mother is Jenny Hall. Is that correct?" the man inquired.

Fred regarded him warily and asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm Weston Stanton from the Stanton family in Lanford," the man answered.

If there were anyone else there, they would have been shocked to hear his name. The Stanton family held considerable prominence in Lanford, akin to the Valor family's standing in Solaria.

However, for a child like Fred, the weight behind this name eluded him. He remained wary as he questioned, "What do you want? Are you here to tell the other kids at the kindergarten that my mother is a criminal?"

For him, that was the biggest threat.

He actually didn't mind if others mock him or hit him for being the
