Noah lowered his head and looked at Gwynn.

She nodded gently in response, so Noah raised his voice and said, “We’ll be there soon.”

She waited until she heard the footsteps leading away from the door and eventually fading before she let go of his hand.

She gave it some thought and spoke. “I know you control his parents’ fate, but I am in his territory now. So, I’d avoid making things too awkward if I could. Sometimes, we have to show them some level of respect.”
