The new public relations manager had invited the female celebrity from the last event, unaware of Lorian’s aversion to her. The celebrity was likely seeking to restore her connections. She wasn't a good drinker, but she sat next to him and drank with him nonetheless.

Lorian found himself in an awkward position, not knowing how to address the situation. Naturally, he assumed his wife was calling to check on him when Tegan called. She could be upset about the female celebrity.
